Navigating a World That Wasn’t Made for Me
September is Pain Awareness Month, and it reminds me that my life is shaped by experiences that most people can’t see. Living with PolG2 with mitochondrial deletion has taught me that the world isn’t built for bodies and minds like mine. Every day is a negotiation—between what I hope to do, what I’m capable of, and what a system, a society, and even physical spaces expect from me.
My life looks different. I move through it cautiously, constantly adapting to limitations, discovering new ways to participate, create, and connect. Neurodiversity adds its own patterns and rhythms, shaping how I experience and respond to the world. Some days the challenges are physical, some days they are mental, and often it’s the quiet strain of navigating a society that assumes I fit a mold I was never meant to fill.
Rochambeau Home exists in the midst of all this. Every wax seal, trinket dish, card, or curated item is part of turning difficulty into something beautiful and meaningful. Creating has been my way of reclaiming space, transforming challenges into art, and honoring resilience in a world that often overlooks it.
Living differently sharpens your awareness of the details. Tiny touches, thoughtful gestures, and handmade moments carry a weight that others might not notice. Rochambeau Home is my invitation to celebrate those details, to embrace creativity and connection even when the world feels unwelcoming.
If you relate to moving through spaces and systems not designed for you, or if you simply want to honor resilience, creativity, and the beauty of living differently, the Chronic Illness Baddies Collection is my way of sharing that message. You can use code CHRONIC for 25% off to treat yourself or someone who needs a reminder that strength, ingenuity, and beauty exist beyond expectation.
